"Wait, you have two locations? What's the difference?"
That's what Caroline asked when she called to book an appointment three months ago.
Caroline lives in Aventura. Works in finance. She'd found us online while searching for salons near her. Saw we had LAHH Salon in Bay Harbor Islands and LAHH Blow Bar in Surfside. Didn't understand what made them different.
"What do you need?" I asked.
"I don't know," Caroline said. "My hair just... needs help. It's been six months since my last haircut. My color is faded. And I have a work event Friday where I need to look really polished."
"When's today?" I asked.
"Tuesday," Caroline said.
"Okay, here's what you need," I told her. "Full salon appointment in Bay Harbor for haircut and color. That's Thursday. Then blow bar appointment Friday morning before your event. Two different services for two different needs."
"I didn't know there was a difference," Caroline admitted.
"Most people don't at first," I said. "Let me explain what each location does."
I'm Emily Safran-Wands. I founded LAHH Salon 15 years ago in Bay Harbor Islands. We opened our Surfside Blow Bar three years ago because our clients needed both services. Caroline's confusion is what I hear constantly: people not understanding when they need a full salon versus when they need a blow bar.
They serve completely different purposes in your hair routine.
Same month Caroline called, Taylor walked into our Blow Bar in Surfside asking for highlights.
"I want to go lighter," Taylor said to the stylist.
Taylor lives in Miami Beach. Marketing director. Gorgeous brunette. She'd seen "LAHH Blow Bar" and assumed we did everything.
"We don't do color here," the stylist told her.
"What?" Taylor said, confused. "But you're a salon."
"We're a blow bar," the stylist explained. "We specialize in blowouts. For color, you need our full-service salon in Bay Harbor."
Taylor came to Bay Harbor later that week, still confused about the difference.
"Why have two locations if they do different things?" Taylor asked when I consulted with her.
"Because you need different things on different days," I told her. "Today you need color. That takes two to three hours. Next Friday when you have that conference, you'll need a blowout. That takes 45 minutes. Two different needs."
Nina's discovery was different but equally eye-opening.
"I love you guys but I can't spend three hours here every week," Nina said when she came in two months ago.
Nina lives in Bal Harbour. Real estate executive. She'd been coming to our Bay Harbor salon weekly for wash and blowouts. Gorgeous hair. But spending three hours weekly was unsustainable.
"Why are you coming to the full salon for just a blowout?" I asked.
"I didn't know I had another option," Nina said.
"You've been spending three hours weekly for something that takes 45 minutes at our Blow Bar?" I asked.
"I didn't know you had a Blow Bar," Nina admitted. "What's the difference?"
I explained the two locations to her. She looked almost upset.
"I've been wasting two hours every week?" Nina said.
I founded LAHH Salon 15 years ago as a full-service salon. Cuts, color, treatments, extensions—everything.
Three years ago, we opened the Blow Bar in Surfside because clients kept saying the same thing: "I love coming here but I can't spend three hours every time I need my hair done."
They needed both:
Full Salon (Bay Harbor) for transformation: Haircuts with precision technique. Color services like balayage. Keratin treatments. Hair extensions. The work that takes 2-4 hours and transforms your hair.
Blow Bar (Surfside) for maintenance: Professional wash and blowout. 45 minutes. The finishing service that keeps you looking polished between transformations.
Most clients need the full salon every 8-12 weeks. Most clients need the blow bar every 1-2 weeks.
"Running both locations taught me something," I learned. "Most people don't need transformation weekly. They need maintenance weekly and transformation occasionally."
Caroline called three months ago confused about our two locations.
Six months since haircut. Faded color. Work event Friday needing polish. Called Tuesday.
"You need both locations," I'd told her.
We booked her perfectly:
Thursday full salon (Bay Harbor): Precision haircut to reshape her grown-out style. Balayage color refresh to fix faded ends. Deep conditioning treatment. Total time: 3 hours.
Friday morning blow bar (Surfside): Professional blowout for her work event. Classic smooth style. Total time: 45 minutes.
Thursday evening: Caroline texted photo. "The color is gorgeous. The cut feels so much better. Thank you."
Friday afternoon: Photo from her work event. "Everyone's asking about my hair. I look so polished. The blowout this morning was perfect."
Three months later (now): "I come to Bay Harbor every 10 weeks for cut and color. I go to Surfside every other week for blowouts. I finally understand the difference. I need transformation occasionally. I need maintenance regularly."
She uses both locations for their specific purposes now.
Taylor walked into Blow Bar three months ago asking for highlights.
Confused when they said they don't do color. Still confused coming to Bay Harbor.
"Why two locations?" she'd asked.
I explained the different purposes. She got it.
Full salon color service: Beautiful balayage lightening. Took 2.5 hours. Looked stunning.
Two weeks later: Taylor came to Blow Bar for her conference. "Now I get it. I needed the salon for transformation. I need the blow bar for maintenance. This took 45 minutes and I look conference-ready."
Six weeks later: Taylor returned to Bay Harbor for color refresh. Then went to Blow Bar the next day for an event.
Three months (now): "I was so confused at first. Now I get it. Salon transforms. Blow bar maintains. I need both but for different reasons."
She understands the two services serve different purposes.
Nina came in two months ago spending three hours weekly at full salon for just blowouts.
Didn't know about Blow Bar. Wasting two hours every week.
"You've been wasting two hours weekly?" I'd asked.
We switched her routine:
Full salon visits: Every 12 weeks for haircut. Perfect for her low-maintenance style.
Blow bar visits: Every week for her Friday blowout. 45 minutes gets her weekend-ready.
Week 1 at Blow Bar: Nina texted. "45 minutes. I just saved two hours of my week. Why didn't anyone tell me about this sooner?"
Week 4: "I've gotten four hours back in my schedule this month. Same great hair. Quarter of the time."
Two months (now): "I was spending 12 hours monthly at the salon for blowouts. Now I spend 3 hours monthly at the blow bar for the same service. That's 9 hours back in my life every month. Plus I still get my quarterly haircut at the salon. Best of both."
She discovered the right service for the right need.
Caroline needed transformation (6 months of growth and faded color) plus event polish.
Full salon for cut and color transformation. Blow bar for event maintenance. Two services, two purposes.
"I need transformation occasionally," Caroline said. "I need maintenance regularly. Both locations make sense now."
Taylor thought blow bar did everything.
Discovered blow bar does maintenance, salon does transformation. Both serve her needs differently.
"Salon transforms. Blow bar maintains," Taylor said. "I was confused until I experienced both. Now I get it."
Nina was spending three hours weekly for a service that takes 45 minutes.
Wrong location for her need. Blow bar gave her two hours back weekly while maintaining same results.
"I wasted two hours every week," Nina said. "Now I use the right location for the right service. Nine hours back monthly."
I learned this running both locations for three years.
Most people need transformation every 8-12 weeks (cuts, color, treatments). Most people need maintenance every 1-2 weeks (blowouts). Two locations serve two different needs in your hair routine.
"People don't need transformation weekly," I learned. "They need maintenance weekly and transformation occasionally. That's why both locations exist."
Ask yourself Caroline's question: "What's the difference between your two locations?"
Bay Harbor full salon: Haircuts, color, treatments, extensions. 2-4 hours. Transforms your hair. Every 8-12 weeks.
Surfside blow bar: Professional blowouts. 45 minutes. Maintains your style. Every 1-2 weeks.
Ask yourself Taylor's question: "Can I get color at the blow bar?"
No. Blow bar = blowouts only. Color, cuts, treatments = full salon. Different locations, different services, different purposes.
Ask yourself Nina's question: "Should I come to the full salon for weekly blowouts?"
No. Full salon for transformation (cut/color/treatments). Blow bar for maintenance (blowouts). Using the right location saves hours weekly.
If you need transformation like Caroline did (cut, color, treatments), book at our Bay Harbor full salon. Takes 2-4 hours. Happens every 8-12 weeks. Transforms your hair completely.
If you need maintenance like Nina does (weekly blowouts), book at our Surfside Blow Bar. Takes 45 minutes. Happens every 1-2 weeks. Keeps you polished between transformations.
If you're confused like Taylor was, that's normal. Most people need BOTH:
